Invitation to participate in free CPD-certified Climate Disclosure Training Programme

Provided at no cost by UN SSE, IFC and CDP.

In order to provide your market with high-quality training on climate disclosure and provide an overview of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) recommendations, the UN SSE, IFC and CDP, in collaboration with Warsaw Stock Exchange, is providing a multifaceted, CPD-certified course for issuers and other key stakeholder of your network, free of charge.

Who is the training for?
The course’s objective is to facilitate a multi-stakeholder dialogue on TCFD disclosure and provide an understanding of the importance of climate-related disclosure. The training primarily addresses issuers and preparers of sustainability reports in companies. However, everyone else is welcome to join as well

What is the course content?
Training tailored to issuers and companies listed on stock exchanges: The course that exchanges can offer to their issuers consists of 3 different modules. TCFD 101 and TCFD 102 are CPD certified and participants will receive a certificate upon completion.: 

  • TCFD 101 provides an overview of what climate-related reporting is and why it is important. It will also provide participants with the global and regional context and focus on the initial steps on how to address the TCFD recommendations. 
  • By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
    • Explain the financial risks & opportunities associated with climate change, and the importance of climate-related financial disclosure.
    • Understand the key elements of climate-related financial disclosure and outline the characteristics of good practice.
    • Identify the initial steps organisations need to take to implement the recommendations of the TCFD.

  • TCFD 102 provides an in-depth programme during which participants will review TCFD reports and wider good practice. Depending on the participants’ level of expertise, the course might also focus on setting up internal processes for reporting and potential first areas to get started on. Prior to taking TCFD 102, participants should either have attended TCFD 101, or have the requisite prior knowledge (see learning objectives of TCFD 101).
  • By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
    • Build a detailed understanding of the TCFD recommended disclosures and how to achieve practical implementation.
    • Understand what good practice looks like, through case studies.
    • dentify the internal processes necessary to support climate risk & opportunity reporting, and how to overcome common implementation challenges.

  • TCFD 102E allows all participants of TCFD 102 to continue their dive into the climate disclosure universe through a self-taught e-learning experience.

    Currently available modules include:
    • 1. Introduction to climate-related disclosure - starting your climate journey
    • 2. Understanding the recommendations of the TCFD
    • 3. Governance of climate-related risks and opportunities
    • 4. An introduction to managing the financial risks from climate change
    • 5. Embedding climate change into financial management - climate-related reporting for accountants

How is it being delivered?

  • Please note that if not differently indicated, the course will be held in English.
  • TCFD 101 and 102 are each delivered as live online workshops via Zoom (of 120 minutes) while TCFD 102E is a series of self-taught e-learning classes (TCFD Knowledge Hub).

Trainers

Tiffany Grabski is a senior specialist on climate reporting for the United Nations Sustainable Stock Exchanges (UN SSE) initiative. In this role, her most recent project involved the drafting of two upcoming guidance documents to help stock exchanges guide their markets on climate reporting and integrate the recommendations of the Financial Stability Board’s (FSB) task force on climate-related financial disclosures (TCFD). Tiffany is also a PhD candidate currently completing her dissertation at the University of Geneva’s school of economics and management on how stock exchanges can contribute to solving climate change and other key global issues. Tiffany also served as deputy coordinator for the UN SSE initiative from 2015- 2019, and prior to this worked as a journalist in Latin America.

Evan Guy is a public policy professional specialising in the intersection between policy and finance pertaining to climate change and other sustainability issues. He works for CDP’s global policy team focused on supporting the policy necessary to shape a more sustainable financial system. Prior to joining CDP, Evan developed a diverse background across private, public, and third sectors. These experiences include working for the United Nations Race to Zero campaign, the environmental consulting company Ostrom Climate Solutions, the United Nations Environment Programme, and the City of Whitehorse’s Planning and Sustainability Department. Evan is currently completing a professional Master of Public Policy at the University of Oxford’s Blavatnik School of Government.

Ralitza Germanova is the Lead of the Sustainability and Climate disclosure program “Beyond the Balance Sheet” with the IFC Environment, Social and Governance Department based in Washington, DC. She has 20 years of experience working with regulators, stock exchanges, partner institutions, and private sector companies to improve corporate governance practices and ESG disclosure and transparency in Europe and Central Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and East Asia.
Ralitza works with companies and boards on sustainability and climate governance and disclosure assessments and stock exchanges, regulators and investors in emerging markets on integrating ESG practices and disclosure. Ralitza is leading the IFC Practice Group on Codes, Standards and ESG Disclosure and Transparency, and works on the development of global knowledge tools and standards in these areas.
Ralitza is the architect and one of the principal authors of the Beyond the Balance Sheet – IFC Disclosure and Transparency Toolkit and Program, recipient of the 2018 World Bank Group President’s Award for Excellence. Using these tools, Ralitza has supported the development of over 50 ESG reporting guidelines, codes and scorecards worldwide (Nigeria, Bulgaria, Serbia, Brazil, Kenya, Palestine, Jordan, Iraq etc.). In addition, Ralitza has been leading the development and delivery of training materials on Climate and Sustainability disclosure, ESG reporting guidelines and Corporate Governance Codes and scorecards, capacity building of director training institutions, and bank governance.
Before joining IFC, Ralitza worked for UNDP Bulgaria as a Coordinator of the UN Global Compact Network introducing Corporate Social Responsibility concepts in the country and with the Bulgarian Foreign Direct Investment Agency to promote foreign investment. Ralitza holds a Master’s degree in Corporate Governance from HANKEN School of Economics in Helsinki and Master’s in Laws and Economics from the University of National and World Economy in Bulgaria.
