Investor Activity On GPW Group Markets – October 2023

PRESS RELEASE – TRADING ON GPW GROUP MARKETS

  • GPW Main Market Electronic Order Book[1] equities turnover value increased by 53.3% YoY to PLN 30.1 billion
  • NewConnect Electronic Order Book equities turnover value increased by 71.1% YoY to PLN 182.8 million
  • Index futures turnover volume increased by 3.2% YoY to 893,300 contracts
  • Aggregate ETF and ETC turnover value increased by 90.0% YoY to PLN 144.8 million
  • Electricity turnover volume increased by 70.7% YoY to 13.7 TWh
  • Natural gas turnover volume increased by 0.9% YoY to 10.5 TWh

In October 2023, total equities turnover value on the GPW Main Market was PLN 31.5 billion, representing a 42.8% increase year on year, while Electronic Order Book turnover value increased by 53.3% year on year to PLN 30.1 billion. Average daily Electronic Order Book equities turnover value stood at PLN 1.37 billion, an 46.4% increase year on year. On the last trading day of October 2023, the WIG index closed at 71,582.26 points, representing a 41.9% increase year on year.

Total October 2023 NewConnect equities turnover value increased by 56.5% year on year to PLN 184.0 million, while Electronic Order Book equities turnover increased by 71.1% year on year and stood at PLN 182.8 million.

Total October 2023 GlobalConnect equities turnover value was PLN 531,400.

Total October 2023 derivatives turnover volume was 1.3 million contracts, representing a 1.6% increase year on year. Index futures turnover volume increased by 3.2% year on year to 893,300 contracts. Currency futures turnover volume decreased by 1.1% year on year to 259,100 contracts. Single-stock futures turnover volume decreased by 7.9% year on year to 128,900 contracts.

In October 2023, structured products turnover value decreased by 11.6% year on year to PLN 220.9 million. Aggregate ETF and ETC turnover value increased by 90.0% year on year to PLN 144.8 million.

At the end of October 2023, Catalyst listed non-Treasury bond value was PLN 104.6 billion, compared to PLN 93.8 billion at the end of October 2022. In October 2023, turnover value of bonds on Catalyst’s Electronic Order Book increased by 3.5% year on year to PLN 515.2 million.

In October 2023, total TBSP bond turnover value was PLN 33.3 billion, compared to PLN 12.3 billion in October 2022, representing a 171.7% increase year on year.

Total October 2023 electricity turnover volume was 13.7 TWh, representing a 70.7% increase year on year, where spot transaction turnover volume increased by 118.3% year on year to 5.6 TWh and forward transaction turnover volume increased by 48.4% year on year to 8.1 TWh.

Total October 2023 natural gas turnover volume was 10.5 TWh, representing a 0.9% increase year on year, where spot transaction turnover volume decreased by 34.8% year on year to 1.4 TWh and forward transaction turnover volume increased by 10.5% year on year to 9.0 TWh.

Turnover volume of October 2023 spot transactions in property rights to certificates of origin, excluding rights to certificates of energy efficiency (“white certificates”),[2] was 1.2 TWh, representing a 1.7% decrease year on year.

In October 2023, turnover volume of property rights to certificates of origin of energy efficiency (“white certificates”) increased by 32.6% year on year to 7.7 ktoe[3].

October 2023 turnover volume in Guarantees of Origin of electricity generated from renewable energy sources increased by 2.3% year on year to 3.3 TWh.

At the end of October 2023, the market capitalisation of 371 domestic companies listed on the Main Market was PLN 696.4 billion (EUR 156.6 billion), while the total market capitalisation of 414 domestic and foreign companies listed on the Main Market was PLN 1,347.8 billion (EUR 303.0 billion).

Shares of the companies: XPLUS and DRAGO ENTERTAINMENT were newly listed on the GPW Main Market in October 2023. Those were transfers from NewConnect.

Shares of the companies: SCANWAY S.A. (offering value: PLN 11.4 million) and SOFTWARE MANSION S.A. (offering value: PLN 2.4 million) were newly listed on NewConnect.

In October 2023, GPW held 22 trading sessions, compared to 21 trading sessions in October 2022.
